Somali born Hibaaq Osman is the founder of the NGO Karama, which mean dignity in Arabic. The NGO, headquartered in Cairo, works towards ending violence against women. In London, a Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict opens on Tuesday 10/06. The 3-day conference will gather ministers, experts and activists worldwide. The London conference is co-chaired by UK’s Foreign Secretary William Hague and actress Angelina Jolie, the special envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office says it aims to create a sense of irreversible movement towards ending the use of rape and sexual violence in conflict.
