What We Do
Ending violence against women is not a simple endeavor and cannot be accomplished by activating only one sector of society nor working only on one level of advocacy. In addressing the complexity of its mission, Karama brings together local experts and activists from different sectors of society to develop a culture of collaboration and unify their vision on ending violence against women so it can be translated to the regional and international levels. Together, Karama and its partners address their shared mission by developing advocacy campaigns to urge policymakers to change discriminatory laws, building the capacity and leadership of activists through trainings and workshops, and organizing activities which unite local partners and raise awareness about the issue of violence against women, interrelated causes and consequences.
Karama’s call to action falls in the following three urgent program areas:
- Fighting for Women’s Rights
- Strengthening Support Services Against Violence
- Building Global and Local Awareness
