Fighting for Women’s Rights

Within the legal frameworks of local and national governments remains cultural, economic, and political discrimination that serves to perpetuate the cycle of violence against women throughout the Arab region. As a major piece of its advocacy, Karama and its partners challenge existing discriminatory laws and policies in an effort to reinforce gender equality and promote the security, prosperity, and dignity of women. From promoting local campaigns demanding legal reform to using international conventions and multilateral bodies to monitor and pressure national governments, Karama and its partners are working to create a new legal framework which is consistent with achieving equal human rights for all.
